___________________________________________________________________________________________________ Abstract— A Wireless Sensor Network (WSN) consists of several sensor nodes deployed in inaccessible areas for monitoring temperature, pressure, vibration, sound, motion etc. A WSN is used for variety of applications such as military, civil, industrial automation, medical, home automation, fleet monitoring, habitat monitoring, preventing theft etc. The availability of inexpensive hardware such as CMOS cameras and microphones has led to the development of Wireless Multimedia Sensor Networks (WMSN) which is used for image and video applications. In case of video applications the captured data will be too large if transmitted as such so it has to be compressed before transmission. Compression in traditional video encoding makes use of motion estimation and motion compensation techniques which requires intensive operations that lead to significant energy consumption and also the storage required is high. This drawback can be addressed by Compressed sensing, an emerging technique that directly obtains the desired samples, thereby reducing the energy consumption, storage capacity and bandwidth used in the network. It is used for reconstructing a signal from the M<<N measurements obtained from sparse or compressible signals, where N is the number of samples required for Nyquist sampling. Compressed sensing can overcome the drawbacks of traditional video encoders by simultaneously sensing and compressing the data at low complexity. The original signal can be recovered from measurements using basis pursuit and greedy algorithms. The objective of this paper is to implement a video compressed sensing framework using Gaussian measurement matrix and reconstruct it using Orthogonal Matching Pursuit algorithm and further transmission energy is analysed for the video compressed sensing framework .

Topology Control in Wireless Sensor Network using Fuzzy Logic

Network sensors consist of sensor nodes in which every node covers a limited area. The most common use ofthese networks is in unreachable fields.Sink is a node that collects data from other nodes. One of the main challenges in these networks is the limitation of nodes battery (power supply). Therefore, the use oftopology control is required to decrease power consumption and increase network acce...

An Artificial Bee Colony Inspired Clustering Solution to Prolong Lifetime of Wireless Sensor Networks

It is very difficult and expensive to replace sensor node battery in wireless sensor network in many critical conditions such as bridge supervising, resource exploration in hostile locations, and wildlife safety, etc. The natural choice in such situations is to maximize network lifetime. One such approach is to divide the sensing area of wireless sensor network into clusters to achieve high ene...

STCS-GAF: Spatio-Temporal Compressive Sensing in Wireless Sensor Networks- A GAF-Based Approach

Routing and data aggregation are two important techniques for reducing communication cost of wireless sensor networks (WSNs). To minimize communication cost, routing methods can be merged with data aggregation techniques. Compressive sensing (CS) is one of the effective techniques for aggregating network data, which can reduce the cost of communication by reducing the amount of routed data to t...

A Fuzzy Based Approach for Rate Control in Wireless Multimedia Sensor Networks

Wireless Multimedia Sensor Networks (WMSNs) undergo congestion when a link (or a node) becomes overpopulated in terms of incoming packets. In WMSNs this happens especially in upstream nodes where all incoming packets meet and directed to the sink node. Congestion in networks, if not handled properly, might lead to congestion collapse which deteriorates the quality of service (QoS). Therefore, i...

Energy-Efficient Sensing in Wireless Sensor Networks Using Compressed Sensing

Sensing of the application environment is the main purpose of a wireless sensor network. Most existing energy management strategies and compression techniques assume that the sensing operation consumes significantly less energy than radio transmission and reception. This assumption does not hold in a number of practical applications. Sensing energy consumption in these applications may be compa...
